Tim Heywood Psychotherapy

How will I know if this therapy is right for me?

Research shows that successful psychotherapy is highly dependent on the quality of the relationship between psychotherapist and client. I therefore suggest to all potential clients that we have an initial  session to meet and discuss what you are looking for from therapy. This will give you an opportunity to get a sense of whether you feel we will be able to work well together, and also to ask any initial questions you have.

How long do therapy sessions last?

Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes. We would normally meet on a weekly basis for 6 sessions and then agree how you want to progress from there. I can provide therapy on a short or longer term basis and will always keep progress under continuous review.

Are sessions confidential?

The content of our sessions is confidential to you and me. The only time when this would not apply is in exceptional circumstances where there is a risk to yourself or to others. Even in this situation, I would aim to discuss with you before making contact with anyone else who may need to be involved in your care. I use email only exchanging practical information about session arrangements and related administration. Emails will be stored in compliance with data protection requirements, as descrbied in my Privacy Notice.

How much do sessions cost?

My standard fee is £70 per session, but there is potential for a reduced rate if this would be unaffordable.

How is your work supervised?

I receive regular clinical supervision from a senior clinical supervisor.

Do you comply with recognised standards?

I abide by the Code of Ethics in Professional Practice of the Welsh Psychotherapy Institute, which is consistent with the standards set by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
